Toowoomba Tourist Information Centre

This is a purpose built facility on James Street, incorporating a shop selling local artefacts, craft and souvenirs, storeroom and office.

The facility was designed to reflect the heritage of Toowoomba's residential buildings. We used images from early Toowoomba architecture and mixed them together in an interesting blend. There are timber chamfer boards, sandstock brickwork, rendered masonry, leadlights, polished timber floors, interesting roof lanterns, stately gable entries, custom orb roof and hoods to windows. It has become an icon building and very recognisable.
